End of Life

End of Life and Bereavement Assistance

Recognizing the sanctity and dignity of human life in all of its stages, our clergy console, guide the ill, the aged, and their loved ones.

For clergy assistance with end-of-life matters, please contact our Life Cycle Coordinator, Samantha Rosen, at (213) 835-2121 or srosen@wbtla.org. During evening hours, on Shabbat, and on Sunday, call the Temple’s main number, (213) 388-2401, and listen to the prompt. If you have an emergency, the call will be transferred to an answering service that will contact the clergy.

Memorial Wall Plaques

By memorializing the names of our deceased loved ones, we express our gratitude for the gifts of their precious lives—and the hope that their memory will continue to inspire us.

Temple members commemorate loved ones by making charitable gifts in their honor and by adding plaques in their names to our beautiful Memorial Wall in the Temple Sanctuary. The wall was designed by Los Angeles artist Lita Albuquerque and installed in 2013.

In accordance with Jewish tradition, we honor the memories of those who have passed away when the Kaddish prayer is recited at worship services. We mark the memories of these loved ones by illuminating their plaques during yahrzeit (the annual anniversary of their deaths) and illuminating all plaques at Yizkor services on Yom Kippur, Shemini Atzeret, Pesach, and Shavuot.

For information about ordering a Memorial Wall plaque, please contact Cristina Mauro in the Membership Office at (213) 835-2142 or by email at cmauro@wbtla.org.
