Riding 4 Reform

Calendar View

Sunday March 25, 2012 - Thursday March 29, 2012

This year's Riding 4 Reform to benefit the Israeli Reform Movement is taking place March 25-29. My husband Mickey Rosen is a long-distance cyclist and would welcome (and help train!) other Wilshire Boulevard Temple members joining the Ride. Here is his message to you!! RKLF

This year marks the sixth year that I will be participating in the Riding4Reform bike ride in Israel to support the Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism (Israel’s Reform Movement). We will leave Haifa on March 25 and ride through the Carmel Forest heading south. We will then head up to Mevaseret Zion, concluding our ride on March 29. During the 2012 ride we will meet congregants who are engaged in Israeli Reform communities. These include the Ra’anana and Rosh HaAyin Reform communities as well as the Kamatz congregation of Mevaseret Zion. It is a great way to build bridges of understanding between our Jewish worlds.

All the proceeds from the bike ride will go to help the Reform Movement’s educational work in Israel. They create meaningful religious alternatives for Israelis that want to experience a living Judaism that is not controlled by the Orthodox Rabbinate's monopoly. Your money will help the Reform Movement grow support initiatives that can reach Israelis where they live—as liberal, creative Jews. Additionally the movement can serve the new immigrant populations that need a liberal Jewish voice to attend to their needs.

I would love to have you join me on this ride. If that is not possible, I welcome your generous donation. Together we can make this a meaningful and rewarding experience. You may want to contribute a multiple of $225 equaling $1 for every mile I ride. However much you can contribute I will be enormously grateful, and I know our friends in Israel will be too.
