End of Life, Funerals & Bereavement
Temple families receive support that recognizes the sanctity and dignity of human life in all its stages.
When a life nears its end, our clergy console and guide the ill, the aged and their loved ones.
For the ill, requests to our Caring Community bring visits from fellow Temple members trained to offer warmth and support in the face of difficult life challenges. To those nearing death and their loved ones, our rabbis provide comfort, spiritual guidance for difficult end-of-life decisions and help with mortuary and cemetery arrangements.
Our clergy are also honored to officiate at funerals, to lead first-night shivah minyan services at family homes, and to officiate at unveilings.
For the bereaved, our Fields Center cosponsors an ongoing weekly support group in conjunction with the H.O.P.E. Unit Foundation. Led by licensed therapists, this group serves widows and widowers in their first two years of mourning. H.O.P.E. sponsors additional programs for graduates of the two-year program, and for those mourning the loss of parents, siblings, or other close relatives.
Please contact Nan Brostoff at (213) 835-2121 for clergy assistance with end-of-life matters. More information about H.O.P.E. Unit programs is available by calling (818) 788-HOPE.
