Today, Tu BiSh'vat is a tree-planting festival in Israel, in which both Israelis and Jews around the world plant trees in honor or in memory of a loved one or friend.

We can also work in sustaining our environment and planting trees for renewal right in our own backyard. An organization called TreePeople training people to plant and care for trees in Los Angeles, focusing on the importance of greening the urban areas.
