Food PantrIES
FEED THE HUNGRY
Our rabbis teach that when asked in the world to come: “What was your work?” and you answer: “I fed the hungry,” you will be told: “This is the house of God, enter into it, you who have fed the hungry.”
For over two decades our Food Pantry has fed the hungry in our city. Now with locations at the Temple Campus and in Santa Monica, it is easier than ever to get involved. It is one thing to make a sandwich or pack a lunch; it is another to actually distribute that lunch to a human being in need. Join us for a few hours on a Sunday morning and put your face on social action.
We welcome congregants from ages 5 to 95. For grade school through high school—a great community service project; bar & bat mitzvah-to-be—a super tikkun olam project; parents of Sunday Religious School students—a terrific opportunity to do a mitzvah while your kids are at Irmas or at Camp; adults who care—no better way to do "first-hand" helping for those who need it most. Every Sunday, we assemble sandwiches, lunch bags and drinks, and personally hand them to clients.
