END OF LIFE
Funerals and bereavement assistance
Recognizing the sanctity and dignity of human life in all of its stages, our clergy console and guide the ill, the aged, and their loved ones.
For clergy assistance with end-of-life matters, please contact our Life Cycle Coordinator, Jamie Geller, (213) 835-2121, firstname.lastname@example.org. During evening hours, on Shabbat, and on Sunday, call the Temple’s main number, (213) 388-2401, and listen to the prompt. If you have an emergency, the call will be transferred to an answering service that will get in touch with the clergy.
For the ill, a family may request a visit from our Chaver Caring Community, fellow Temple members trained to offer support for those facing difficult life challenges. Contact Phil Wallace at (424) 208-8932 or email@example.com to request a visit.
For those nearing death, and for their loved ones, our rabbis provide comfort, end-of-life blessings, spiritual guidance for difficult end-of-life decisions, and assistance with mortuary and cemetery arrangements. Our clergy are honored to officiate at funerals, to lead shivah minyan services at family homes, and to officiate at unveilings.
To further assist our bereaved, our Fields Center cosponsors an ongoing weekly support group in conjunction with the H.O.P.E. Foundation. Led by licensed therapists, H.O.P.E. serves widows and widowers in their first two years of mourning, as well as sponsors additional programs for graduates of this two-year program and for those mourning the loss of parents, siblings, or other close relatives. For additional information about H.O.P.E. programs, call (818) 788-HOPE.
