Through Their Eyes: An African American Film Series

Curated and moderated by Dr. Michael Renov, Professor of Critical Studies and Vice Dean of Cinema and Media Affairs at USC School of Cinematic Arts, and the Haskell Wexler Endowed Chair in Documentary, this series explores various genres, topics, and subjects associated with African American cinema.

Watch a new movie every two weeks and join Rabbi Nanus and Dr. Michael Renov for an in-depth conversation.

The first virtual discussion will happen on Tuesday, July 14 at 7:00 P.M. for the film "I am Not Your Negro."

I Am Not Your Negro (2017)

Portrayed through the eyes of James Baldwin, Director Raoul Peck's stunning documentary is a journey into Black history in America that connects the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s to Black Lives Matter. Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, this Academy Award-nominated film is based on Baldwin's unfinished manuscript "Remember This House."

Watch it prior to next week's talk on Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, and Hulu.
