Koleinu / Refugee HIAS Shabbat at Glazer Campus

Our Very Jewish Origin Story: Refugee Shabbat

Join Rabbi Joel Nickerson and guest cantor, Chloe Pourmorady, on Friday, Feb. 3 at 7:00 p.m. for a special Koleinu Shabbat, in partnership with HIAS. Joe Goldman, Community Engagement Director for the Western Region at HIAS, will be our guest speaker.

With over 100 million forcibly displaced people worldwide, there are more refugees today than after WWII. Learn about the very Jewish history behind global refugee policies that allowed for American, Israeli, and other Jewish communities around the world to exist and thrive, as well as how to take action right here at home for refugees and asylum seekers from Afghanistan, Ukraine, and other crises. Welcoming the stranger is who we are.
