In the 1920s when Marion Davies was a "close friend" of William Randolph Hearst, the newspaper magnate commissioned his favorite architect, Julia Morgan, designer of Hearst Castle, to create an elegant waterfront estate for Davies on Santa Monica's Gold Coast. Today, the only surviving building is Morgan's original guest house, which has its own storied history and has been beautifully restored.
Get the scoop about some of Davies' and Hearst's famous guests, including Charlie Chaplin, Louis B. Mayer (a Wilshire Boulevard Temple member), Samuel Goldwyn, Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, and many more. Also learn about the committed work of historic preservation and renewal that led to the creation of the Annenberg Community Beach House on the property, making this site a public treasure that's open to everyone.
