Betty Winn currently serves as a Senior Consultant at BJE’s Center for Excellence
in Day School Education, where she previously was the Director. She was the
Head of School at Heschel for ten years and also recently served as Interim Head
of School at Sinai Akiba Academy.
She has collective experience serving in school leadership, having held additional
positions such as Senior Educational Consultant, Curriculum Coordinator, Director
of Admissions, and Teacher in both public and private institutions throughout the
Los Angeles area. Betty earned her Bachelor of Arts in history as well as a
Lifetime Teaching Credential from the University of California, Los Angeles. She
also earned her Masters in educational administration from Pepperdine University
Graduate School of Education and Psychology.
Betty is a long time member of the Temple’s Camp Committee. She and her
husband, Ross Winn, reside in Los Angeles, California and have two children,
Brieana and Ryan. Her two grandchildren attend Brawerman West and Mann ECC.
Abbi Hertz has spent the past 20 years developing community outreach marketing
and public relations campaigns for nonprofits and government agencies in the areas of health, the environment and social justice. Abbi serves on multiple non-
profit boards and committees, primarily in fundraising and public affairs roles, including Sharsheret, the Jewish Center for Justice, and Pluralistic School One.
She most recently served on University Synagogue merger committee, where she
participated in all strategy and integration processes and helped lead congregation
communications and outreach.
She lives in Santa Monica with her husband David Krauss and children Mara and
Judah.
